Deforestation: Real Life Science

What is Deforestation?
Deforestation is when massive amounts of trees are cut down permanently for the purpose of building something else, that's not forest. Deforestation began back in 1960, when Brazil began to burn down part of a forest. Since then, enormous parts of forests, including the Amazon forest (which is still currently in flames) have been either cut down or burned down. 46% of trees have been cut down since humans started, and that number only continues to rise. According to National Geographic, between 1990 and 2016, "The world lost 502,000 square miles of forest." I feel that this should be addressed to a more widespread audience, to where all ages can understand. That way we can all do something about it.
